Origin

While people are caring for long-term care, we found that there are children who need to live with ventilator.

These children depended on ventilator since they were sick. They have been through emergency period and still need daily care during the recovery period. Their family often needs to take care of these children’s physical, psychological and education issue lacking in medical care knowledge, technology and resources. It’s a lot of pressure to their family in physically, psychologically, spiritually and economically.

As a result, a group of parents, doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, etc., have the idea of setting up a patient association. In August, 2002, ‘Taiwan Long-term Respiratory Care Children Association’ officially established. In February, 2004, it changes its name to ‘Taiwan Association for Happy Breathing Children’.
